Obstacle discrimination extreme challenge

Does your dog really listen to your verbal cues? How is distance handling working for you? Let’s find out! Becky Sinclair, one of our great Team AgiNotes members designed this challenge for you!

The idea of this little challenge is distance handling and obstacle discrimination between the jump, weaves, and tunnel. The handler isn’t allowed past the exit of the first tunnel so in this exercise, there’s no physical help! The dog needs to listen to the verbal cues.

Please note: If you haven’t trained your dog to understand these cues, it would be unfair to expect him to manage this exercise. In that case, build the skills step by step:

  • Teach the cues for each obstacle separately

  • Train your dog to find each of these obstacles from the distance, increasing the distance step by step.

  • Do some easier discrimination exercises (more distance between the obstacles, less distance between you and the obstacles).
