Right and left exits out of weaves

Here’s a new weaves training challenge by our Team AgiNotes member Victoria Eklund.

This is a challenge to test and improve your dog’s weave skills. Right and left exits out of the weaves have become more and more common in high competition levels, and is also a really cool skill to know.

The way I teach this is by laying a toy (or another reward) down at the opposite exit of the weaves from me. Then gradually increase the distance of the toy from the weaves.

When the dog is good at this alone, I add a jump, and then a toy or reward back behind the jump. Eventually, after many repetitions, I remove the toy and just give the left/right command.

After a while you can start by adding obstacles after the first jump. Both jumps and tunnels, but tunnels are by far more popular.
